Parralox - 257 - Walk The Night
04/12/2023 - 0136 hours.
Been sick as a dog all week, so have mainly been resting.
I watched M3GAN yesterday evening, and during the dance scene I was reminded how awesome Walk The Night was, so of course I thought it would make a great addiition to Holiday '23.
I intended to start on the track Sunday evening, but I ended up walking Jack and then did web maintenance for a few hours.
It's now 0130 in the morning and I figure I may as well start the track and lay down the groundwork for arrangement etc.
I found the Disco Purrfection version on YouTube which goes for 9 minutes, so I may (or may not) base my version on that. Now that I think, I'll probably go for a shorter version. Or do both. Who knows.
Chris came over on Saturday and we watched TWilight Zone - The Invaders. He hadn't seen that episode so I was excited to show him. He of course loved it. During the show I highlighted some of the things that bugged me about it, mainly the sound design of the laser zaps (I'm being overly critical of course) and so then had the brainwave of remastering and making a special edition of that episode.
Did I mention that we had previsouly wacthed 4K77 version of Star Wars? I had also showed Chris the YouTube docos on the making of the 4K77 versions, so I was clearly jazzed up on despecializing and special editions.
I did an immediate search of YouTube for The Invaders episode, but could only find short 5 minute clips, and I immediately had a sinking feeling. My suspicion was confirmed when I did a test and uploaded the full episode to YouTube Unlisted, but it was blocked worldwide. So that pretty much ended my idea of making a new version of The Invaders with new sound design, plus additional CGI effects for the laser blasts.
I was planning to make the effects similar to The Day The Earth Stood still, specifically GORTs laser blasts, so that the effects would integrate into the episode and not be noticable.
Hmm maybe I can still do that and only upload a few minutes of selected scenes with the new CGI.
Anyway, enough of being side-tracked. I should start on this song.
Notes end 0144.
I just loaded up the Cherry Audio Pro Soloist and created a low drone sound, I think I'll use that.
