Monday 7th April, 2025
2230 - Just finished watching a video on Leto Atreides / Dune Messiah / The Golden Path1 and was inspired to write a new song. V1 started off with a TR808 and a Polysix bassline, then I ended up reprogramming the drums in the style of Last Christmass using the LinnDrum. I also changed the bassline for a more Italodisco feel in V2.
Then I loaded up Lunaris and found a sound I liked and hit the keys and the verse melody came from nowhere. I'll write the chorus while Jack is asleep on the red couch.
Tuesday 8th April, 2025
0030 - Recording Guide vocals with Rode NT1-A. Mainly because the good mike is in the recording booth and I already have this mike setup in the control room.
0326 - Dammit. I had the inputs running a little hot when recording guide vocals, which means they are unusable. Sometimes I record vocals with the NT1-A but I was adjusting the settings on the ACP-88 before and clearly got it totally wrong. Even though it's very early in the morning, I may as well record final vocals while I'm on a roll. Recording Final vocals with Rode NTV.
0437 - Just took Jack for a walk to the Church. Was so lovely to step outside into the night, with not a soul in sight. The air was cool and still and the grass was sparkling with drops of water under the moonlight. It reminds me of how lucky I am. I'm now comping the vocals and fixing the BV harmonies.
0741 - I completely reworked the music. It's more of a slow synthwave groove. And now I'm thinking that the Chorus I've written isn't catchy enough, so I think I'll use it as an outro. OK, now I have to write a killer chorus.
0845 - Took Jack for another walk. Went to Koko Black and bought myself a little treat for when I finish this song!
0955 - Wrote and recorded the pre chorus. OMG I am super tired, but I'm on a roll and need to finish this song. It's all flowing nicely so I need to run with it.
1050 - Wrote and sang the verses. The song (in this form at least) is done. I'll send to Adam and see what his notes are. I'm hopong he can help me improve the song.
1125 - I think I just finished the arrangement. Not bad for 13 hours straight! Minus dog walks! I think in Version 4 this track will be done.
1155 - Printing V4 mix now. OMG I'm bushed.
