Parralox - Here Comes The Feeling

Here Comes the Feeling

Written by John von Ahlen

Verse 1
In the moments
We broke through
When it would just be
Me and you

Lost in a moment
It fell away
And I almost felt
You might stay

Pre Chorus
I don't think I believe it
And I think I could lose my mind
Can I even believe in
The night calling
Night call

Chorus
Here comes the feeling
Here comes the night
Here comes the feeling
When you go home tonight

Here comes the feeling
Here comes the night
Here comes the feeling
Did I hold on too tight?

Verse 2
There were moments when I
I should have said
What was on my mind
But it might be too late

Lost in the memory
You flew so high
One foolish prophecy
Now please don't say goodbye

Repeat Pre Chorus
Repeat Chorus

Monologue
Like all in this world
This too shall pass

Repeat Pre Chorus
Repeat Chorus x2

2350 hours - Just came back from a lovely dinner with Matt Dale and Bill Barsby. We wemt to Yamato on Exhibition Street. I didn't eat a lot, mainly because I was talking too much. It was a good night, we spoke about music and family and all the troubles in the world. Then we spoke more about music and technology, and started to look at the prices of our vintage analogue synths. Both Bill and I are considering selling most of ours, as we have way too many.
We finished up around 2245 hours as we were the last ones in the restaurant. We walked past the studio and I picked up a very happy Jack who was delighted to walk Bill and Matt back to their car park.
I then came back to the studio and started work on this song with nothing more than a title, and a vague idea that I wanted a simple Linn Drum pattern with a Moog bass. I came up with the verse chords pretty quickly. Then about 10 minutes ago (2340 hours) I came up with the chorus chords and melody as I thought the verse (which was originally the chorus) wasn't good enough.
This song is dedicated to the memory of my friend Mark Owen Canning.

New Chorus written @ 1300-1630 hours
1650 hours - Louise came over after work for our vocal recording session. I played her what I had so far, and wasn't 100% sure about the vocals I recorded. I played Louise the instrumental of the track and she thought it was really strong. We used the melody bits I had already written and Louise came up with some amazing chorus and verse lyrics. She also helped modify some of the melodies I had to make them stronger and consise.
We finished the session at around 1840 hours, so Jack and I walked Louise back to the tram, in the rain. I cam back to the studio and recorded guide vocals for the verse and chorus, plus a new PreChorus part I wrote. It is now 2003 hours and my pizza is nearly ready as I type these notes and Cubase has just printed the song plus instrumental V3. Can't wait for next weeks session with Louise 😀

1333 hours - It's Dad's birthday today. I'll be catching up with Brian and Mina tomorrow to celebrate. I just took Jack for a walk to the Post Office, no Doctor Who Collection DVD or Behringer Pro 800 was there, just some bills. Maybe tomorrow. It's 1333 hours and I'm working on V3 of this track, tidying up the vocals and working on the arrangement. Hopefully I can finish this today. Louise will be here at 1630. I also need to go to JB Hifi to pickup a new TV and Apple 4K TV for one of the apartments.
